Residency Requirements

Sole Proprietor RegistrationRequired

Must register as 'private entrepreneur' (sole proprietor) with State Registry. Can work with clients worldwide - no requirement for Armenian clients. Registration fee AMD 3,000 (~$8). Process takes few days. Can be done remotely with power of attorney to lawyer. Must obtain Armenian tax ID.

No Minimum IncomeFlexible requirement

Temporary Permit1 year (renewable)

Tax Implications

Tax Residency Trigger183+ days

Spending 183+ days in Armenia triggers tax residency. Then taxed on worldwide income at Armenian rates. Can strategically stay under 183 days and maintain tax residency elsewhere. Residence permit doesn't automatically mean tax residency.

Turnover Tax Option1.5-10% revenue

Small businesses under AMD 115 million (~$290k) can use turnover tax: flat 1.5-10% on gross revenue depending on business type. Replaces income tax and VAT. Very simple. Ideal for freelancers and remote workers. Minimal paperwork.

Micro-Business RegimeUnder AMD 24M

Businesses under AMD 24 million revenue (~$62k) can use micro-business regime. Pay only AMD 5,000 per employee. Almost no other taxes. Perfect for solo digital nomads with modest income. Extremely simple compliance.

Application Process

Path to Citizenship
